The Choir of Polish Miners Douai Welcome!

photoindex
The Polish Miners Choir of Douai was created in 1947. Around 40 people, mainly coming from the Polish immigration during the 1920s, now constitute the choir. At the beginning, the repertoire was made up of folkloric and religious songs, but Henri KIKOS, the music director since 1993, has enriched it, while keeping this rich cultural heritage.

Nowadays the choir can boast about singing songs of the XIV and XVth centuries, or even baroque, classical, Romantic or contemporary music. The choir doesn’t hesitate to join other groups to perform great works such as Campra or Cherubini’s requiems. Keeping the state of mind of former Orpheon’s choirs, ie. constituting a brotherly and yet modern choir, is our ambition.

All together… lets’ sing in unison.

We hope you’ll enjoy visiting our website. Amateur singers, you’ll always be most welcome during our rehearsals on Wednesdays, at 6 p.m. The room is on the second floor of the Maison des Associations Andris, Camille Guerin Street, in Douai.
